Legacy Building
Legacy is something you build every day through the choices you make. Founding Velveteen Ventures was a conscious decision to redefine what leadership in venture can look like: values-driven, inclusive, and deeply human. As a Native American founder and investor, I’ve seen firsthand how much talent is missed when capital only flows through narrow channels. Legacy building means widening those channels and proving that purpose and performance are not opposing forces — they are multipliers.
I’m deeply grateful I don’t do this work alone. Velveteen is stronger because of the partners who share this long-term vision. Karla Brollier, my partner and Head of Climate, brings a grounded, values-led approach to investing in solutions that honor the planet and future generations through an Indigenous lens. Katherine Stabler, our COO, brings operational rigor and wisdom that ensures we build something durable, thoughtful, and scaleable. Together, we are intentional about backing founders who are building across care, consumer, community, and climate—because legacy isn’t built in silos; it’s built through interconnected systems that support life.
What makes this fund especially meaningful is our commitment to give back as we go forward. A portion of Velveteen’s carry is directed to Native tribes—not as charity, but as reciprocity. This is legacy in motion: honoring where we come from while expanding what’s possible for those who come next. My hope is that Velveteen proves a simple truth—that when you lead with purpose, invest with conviction, and build alongside people who share your values, you create more returns. You create roots. And from those roots, generations can grow.
